I honestly think Tai Lung only won because Shifu just didn't want to hurt him. Look at his fighting style, its almost completely defensive. His only attacks are when he grabs Oogway's staff.

  5. "Who filled my head with dreams?! Who drove me to train until my bones cracked?! Who denied me my destiny?!"

Tai Lung throws an array of weapons at Shifu on that last line, and when Shifu deflects the last one, he sees a reflection of himself, answering Tai Lung's question. This movie is awesome.

  6. If Shifu was a mouse in this movie this would be like tom and jerry fighting in steroids

It wasn't just being denied the Dragon Warrior that broke him, it was that Shifu, his surrogate father, not vouching for him or argueing with his master. The evidence is right there at 0:30 on his face, from disappintment to genuine heartbreak. Everything he did was for his fathers love and approval, but when the moment came for Shifu to prove that his love for Tai Lung was beyond his potential, he failed. Even when he finally admitted his feeling it was too late, Tai Lung no longer saw Shifu as his father, but the last challange to claim what he worked so hard for, a title that anyone could've achieved.

When I first saw this in theaters as a kid I was floored by the story, writing, and acting from what was advertised as "a goofy kids film". I was practcally bawling when this fight started, because I didn't see an evil villain fighting his master, but a father and son argueing who ruined everything for them.

How can Tai lung was jailed for 20 years when life expectancy of a snow Leopard is 12 years?

1:55 Honestly, if Tai Lungs goal here was to defeat Shifu, why not just slam him into the ground? Gravity would have done more damage than kicking him into the wall mid-air.
